Which decal paper for which job
- Fotocal G, 150 gsm: A4, A3 and A3+, recommended for decals finished with lamination paper and liquid cover coat.
- Trucal Plus, 170 gsm: A4, A3 and A3+, plus SRA3 and oversize sheets up to 320 x 600 mm for production printers, also recommended for lamination and liquid cover coat.
- Incal, 160 gsm: A4 and A3, for decal production where reliable release and consistent print quality are required.
If your printer runs SRA3 or longer sheets, Trucal Plus covers those formats. Not sure? Tell us the printer and the coating method and we will recommend a grade.
How waterslide decal paper works
Ceramic decal paper is a backing sheet with a water soluble release layer. The printer fuses ceramic toner onto that layer, a covercoat is applied over the print, and in water the release layer dissolves so the decal slides off the backing onto tile, porcelain, glass or enamel. The kiln then burns away the coating and fuses the pigment into the surface.
Printing tips
- Keep a 5 mm margin around every decal; the printer cannot fuse toner to the paper edge
- Store paper sealed in the printer room so it acclimatises to the same temperature and humidity
- Print standard decals reading correctly; mirror only for decals applied face down on glass
- Nest several decals on one sheet to reduce waste
INEQS decal papers are made for laser printing with ceramic toner and work with printing systems from INEQS, Ricoh, Canon, Konica Minolta, Xerox and other suitable laser printers.
Want to skip the separate coating step? Precoated decal paper combines decal paper and cover coat in one sheet.
