Cookie policy

Which cookies this website sets, why, and how to change your choice.

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This page lists every cookie this site uses, what each one is for, and how to change your mind.

The short version

Before you answer the banner, this site sets one cookie: the record of your answer. Accept statistics and Google Analytics sets two more so it can count you as one visitor rather than several. Decline, or ignore the banner, and nothing else is written. There is no advertising and no cross-site tracking either way. If you press play on the process video, YouTube sets its own cookies, and only then.

Cookies this site uses

Necessary: your cookie choice

Set by Complianz, the consent plugin that runs the banner. Read only by this site. Stored for 12 months.

CookieWhat it does
cmplz_banner-statusRemembers that you answered the banner, so it stops reappearing.
cmplz_policy_idRecords which version of this policy you saw. If we change it materially, the banner asks again.
cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketingYour yes or no for each category, so the site can honour it.
cmplz_consented_servicesWhich individual services you allowed, if you set them one by one.

These are allowed without consent under section 25(2) of the German TDDDG: without them the site cannot do the thing you asked for, which is to remember your answer.

Only if you accept statistics: Google Analytics

Nothing below is loaded until you accept the statistics category. Google Consent Mode holds analytics storage at denied until then, so no cookie is written and no measurement happens.

CookieWhat it doesKept for
_gaGives your browser a random number so repeat visits count as one person, not several. It says nothing about who you are.2 years
_ga_*Keeps the state of your current visit, so pages viewed in one sitting are grouped into one session.2 years

Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. IP addresses are shortened before storage. Google Ads is not linked, Google signals are off and there is no remarketing. Legal basis: your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and section 25(1) TDDDG.

The form spam check: Cloudflare Turnstile

The quote request form runs a Cloudflare Turnstile check to keep bots out. Turnstile sets no cookies of its own and does not track you between sites. It does read some technical signals from your browser, and Cloudflare receives your IP address while the check runs. It is loaded without asking because without it the form fills with spam, which is a legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR rather than something needing consent.

Only if you press play: YouTube

The process video is hosted on YouTube. It is not loaded with the page. You see a still frame and a play button, and nothing reaches Google until you press it. We use the youtube-nocookie.com domain, which holds back some tracking, but once the video runs Google receives your IP address and sets its own cookies to remember playback settings and measure views. Those cookies belong to Google, not to us, and can last up to two years.

Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. See Google’s cookie notice. Legal basis: your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and section 25(1) TDDDG.

Site administrators only

If you log in to manage this site, WordPress sets wordpress_logged_in_* and wp-settings-* cookies to keep you signed in and remember your editor layout. Visitors never receive these.

What this site does not use

No advertising, remarketing or conversion pixels. No Google Ads link and no Google signals. No social media plugins or share buttons. No embedded maps. No chatbot. No fonts loaded from a third party: the typeface is served from our own server. No cross-site tracking of any kind.

Changing your choice

Use the controls below, or the cookie settings link at the bottom of any page. Your choice takes effect straight away.

You can also delete cookies in your browser, or set it to refuse them. Every browser does this differently; look for cookies or site data in its privacy settings. Refusing our consent cookie means the banner will ask again on every visit.

More detail

The privacy policy covers everything else: server logs, what happens when you contact us, how long we keep things and what rights you have. The Impressum names who is behind this site.
