A raster image processor written for ceramic toner, not for paper. It gives you control of colour, toner output and production that a printer driver cannot.
Most RIP software is built for conventional paper printing. INEQS RIP Software is optimised for ceramic toners and fired ceramic colour, and compensates for the colour shifts that happen in the kiln.
Why a ceramic RIP
Colours that look correct on the monitor change during firing. The RIP predicts and controls that change, which removes most of the trial-and-error adjustment. Combined with a custom ICC profile it gives repeatable results across different printers, toner sets and firing conditions.
What it changes in production
- More accurate colours after firing
- Better reproduction of photographs and skin tones
- Less test printing and less test firing
- Lower toner consumption
- Consistent colour between runs
- Professional workflow automation
- Multi-printer support
Key features
- ICC profile creation
- RGB, CMYK and multichannel support
- Up to eight colour channels
- Density adjustment and linearisation
- White point optimisation
- Colour proofing
- Job automation and hot folders
- Diagnostics and monitoring
- Windows and Mac
Built for
- Photo ceramics and memorial portraits
- Porcelain decoration and tableware
- Glass decoration
- Industrial ceramic printing
Basic printing works without a RIP. The RIP earns its place when colour accuracy, repeatability and throughput start costing you money. It is compatible with most professional ceramic toner printing systems.
Where the RIP sits in your workflow
The RIP sits between your design software and the ceramic printer. It receives the file, converts it with the ICC profile for your printer, toner set, paper and firing curve, applies density and linearisation settings, and sends the separated colour channels to the printer. Jobs can be dropped into hot folders, each set up for a product line, so operators print without touching colour settings.
Multichannel and red toner sets
A ceramic red set replaces magenta with a true ceramic red, and some printers run more than four colours. The RIP handles up to eight colour channels and maps each file to the channels your printer actually carries, so a red set or a six colour printer is colour managed like a standard CMYK set.
Production features
- Hot folders and job automation for repeat products
- Multi-printer management from one workstation
- Colour proofing on screen before anything is printed or fired
- Diagnostics and monitoring to catch drift before it reaches the kiln
